President: David Messling
As President my role is firstly to represent St John's undergraduates on a variety of issues from educational policy to rent negotiations, both by sitting on a variety of College committees, and by meeting with the Fellows and Staff. Secondly, I chair the meetings of the JCR and along with the rest of the JCR committee I work to make the student experience at John's as good as possible. Thirdly, I represent John's students on OUSU council, and act with OUSU andthe NUS to address the concerns of John'sstudents. Most importantly, my role is to advocate for John's students, inside and outside the College. If you have any issues you wish to see addressed, either personally or more generally, please do get in touch!

Vice President: Nyasha Weinberg
My role is to assist the President in his duties, with specific responsibility for the assigning of students' accommodation, JCR-staff relationship and the JCR Reps. This means I have to organise the room ballot, staff Christmas presents and cards, the staff party and make sure all the Rep positions are filled. I also represent the JCR on 10 different College committees and OUSU Council, ranging from Education, Library and Domestic committees, to Garden committee. If you have any ideas/issues that you want us to work on or raise with college please get in touch!

Secretary: Helen Brooks
Like a traditional secretary, I produce agendas and take minutes of meetings, including Joint Council, Equality Forum, the Rents and Charges negotiations, and the JCR meetings themselves. Unfortunately, unlike a traditional secretary, I don’t get to make cups of tea, answer phones or sleep with the boss. It’s my job to make sure the website, termcard and contact sheet are up-to-date, and to assist David and Nyasha with whatever they’re working on. During JCR meetings, I have the enjoyable task of being JCR pedant, which means making sure that everything is done by the book – or rather the constitution, which I must love and care for. I also have to tell bad jokes upon request. Feel free to get in touch with me with any secretary-related problems (though I can’t imagine what those might be).

Treasurer: Chris Sykes
Hi, I'm Chris Sykes, a third year Physics student, and as JCR Treasurer, my main job is to handle the JCR's finances: keeping accounts of all transactions and maintaining a budget so we don't spend too much! I'm also responsible for the equipment in the TV room and Games room, and the Video room along with the dom secs, and along with the president and secretary I help negotiate your rents and charges for the next year. If ever you need to contact me, e.g. to claim back some money spent on behalf of the JCR I'm often in my room, or failing that, I'm always on e-mail.

Academic Affairs and Access Officer:Sarah Wonham
As Academic Officer I represent the needs of the JCR in terms of college library provision, assessing how effective tutorials are, and supporting students undergoing academic difficulties by attending the relevant college committees. I also look at these issues on a university level by attending OUSU meetings for Academic Reps. During Hilary term the college academic feedback sessions take place, where students can come along and appraise their tutors. I am also responsible for getting the JCR involved with Access issues, such as the Target Schools initiative.

Domestic Secretaries: Lucy Duckworth and Laura Henry
The role of Domestic Secretaries provides us with a chance to pamper you! We organise two themed Guest Dinners a term, providing you with wonderful food, entertainment, pre and post dinner drinks and with a chance to get ‘all dolled (or tux'd) up'! Once a term we hold JCR desserts when we give you the opportunity to eat lots of yummy food; we advocate that cramming yourself full of desserts is the best way to reduce stress levels! (Desserts is stressed spelt backwards!). We will look after your laundry facilities providing booking sheets so that you can book your slots and keep you smelling fresh and looking squeaky clean! We will also be looking to continue the renovation of the JCR rooms to give you a comfortable setting to chill out and use for society meetings. Finally we'll work together with College Domestic Committee to ensure that the JCR's voice is heard.

Welfare Officers: Helen Austin (Female) and Edward Peveler (Male)
Welfare is always a position held by two JCR members simultaneously, one male and one female. Our duties involve providing everyone in need of them with welfare supplies confidentially and discretely. We also organise welfare events including Welfare Night, Tommy White Tea and Welfare Lunch, where the JCR can not only receive free food, but also communicate with their welfare officers and Peer Support team. The welfare officers also organise college marriages and college children and have a large hand in the organisation of freshers' week. As Equal Opportunities Officers, we also are concerned with making sure St John's treats everyone fairly and that we fulfil university expectations.

Enviroment and Ethics: Shaahin Pishbin and Edward Love
We are responsible for investigating and reporting upon areas of college policy and practice which are not environmental and ethical (though of course there must be compromise between the two), and attempting to remedy them, as well as organising the recycling points in college, attending OUSU E&E meetings, supporting their campaigns and holding a termly brunch. We also chair a working party which meets termly, where we take any current issues to se nior college members.

OUSU/ NUS Officer: Simon Mattus
As your OUSU/NUS officer it is my responsibility to act as our JCR's voice on OUSU council. I sit on OUSU council, go to Reps' Meetings, and attend JCR meetings in order to relay to our student union what we as students want. If participation in OUSU elections is anything to go by our student union seems to be largely ignored by a large part of its constituents.
It will be my job to make sure the refined system of more JCR-driven policy works for our JCR and to support OUSU's own remedies to its accountability problems. Hopefully we'll also see some JCR initiatives to increase participation in student union politics. As always, if you have any concerns or queries about the OUSU side of things or want to get involved in influencing its direction please get in touch.

Women's Officer: Evelyn Jackson
As your Women's Officer I am the voice for any gender inequality issues in the JCR, but most especially the voice for any self-defining women. My job entails me to take part in and act as St John's representative at OUSU's autonomous Women's Campaign (WomCam) every Monday at 5.45pm, which is the main autonomous Feminist group in Oxford, and I invite any who wish to come with me to join in these informal discussions. I will of course also feed back information to the JCR about events going on within Oxford as well as nationwide concerning gender inequality via email and the committee meetings. I also organise lunches in college fortnightly as a closed space for women, which include a variety of speakers and give the vital opportunity for discussion and community between women. Finally, I am here to answer any questions concerning women's events and issues, and most importantly I hope to work alongside our Welfare team and welcome anyone to come for a cup of tea and a chat at any time.

Discounts Officer: Uchechukwu Ukachi
My role is to get our students discount round the streets of Oxford. We already have a relationship with more than 40 businesses in Oxford. I will be renewing and strengthening these relationships and in the process get better deals.
Working with the Entz reps (Naomi and Alex), we can negotiate with businesses to get deals of group outings. Send some information about the number of people, where you want to go and nature of the event to my pidge (in advance, of course). There is a very good chance that we can work something out to save you some money.
