'Croquet Cuppers is one of the largest croquet tournaments in the world and will take place in Trinity Term. We're looking to field as many teams as possible to continue the winning streak started by Henry Venmore-Rowland (who can now sadly no longer play with us).

You don't need to have any experience (I certainly don't) so beginners are more than welcome. It does help if you like Pimms though. If you're interested in taking part in a quintessentially Oxonian sporting activity that requires LITERALLY no hard work or commitment then please Email me at [email protected].

We train once a week and play a match every weekend during Michaelmas and Hilary.  We play in the top division, which we won in Hilary 2009. We reached the Cuppers final this year, losing 4-3 after 125 minutes.  We only lost 2 matches this year, drew 2 and won the rest.

Ultimate Frisbee

Captain: Simon Mattus

Founded in Trinity Term 2010, St John's College Ultimate Frisbee saw its first successes at the university cuppers tournament that year, challenging established teams in a set of great group play matches. It is a society made up almost entirely of beginners, welcoming any curious potential recruit into its ranks.

While perhaps a tad more enjoyable in the summer sun, SJCUF's "disc-loving, summer-loving, uni parks-loving and winning-loving" (Founding Mother C. Pendleton, 2010) members meet regularly throughout the year and take part in many of the various university practices, leagues, and tournaments.

Keen to join in on the fun? Whether you've heard of ultimate or not, come along and enjoy the company of a fantastic, spirited group of people while figuring out just what's so appealing about chasing a disc around a field.
